The terrace floor at Egg will play host to a great record label, Artizan Music/UTBD. In their short time Artizan and Uptownboogiedown have gained a reputation for releasing music with great integrity and depth. Label bosses and resident DJs Andy Touchfingers, Jafar and Maxime Cescau must take all the plaudits for that. Tonight they’ll be joined by the outstanding Buzzin Fly artist Manoo. He’ll be the third DJ making the trip over from Europe especially for this party, though he is based in Lyon. This hugely talented artist is the man behind the Rodamaal project. His music is played by everyone from Laurent Garnier to Little Louie Vegas. He is signed to Ben Watt’s Buzzin Fly label and is recognised as one of the hottest talents in French dance music.

Berlin based Finnish producer Sasse is a veteran of the European electronic dance music scene. Starting Moodmusic in 1996 he has left a lasting legacy with a label that still promotes a wonderfully warm deep sound. Amongst many other projects last year he produced a track on Tracy Thorns ‘Out of the Woods’ album. This set at Sports Rave will be part of the tour to promote his second album ‘Toinen’.

He’ll be joined in the main room by the aptly named Exercise One. Also based in Berlin this impressive techno outfit have been gaining fans across Europe with their ever evolving live show. Their productions over the past few years notably on Mobilee and Lan Musik have really thrust them into the limelight and their sets never let them down.

Completing the line up at Egg for Sports Rave will be our erstwhile compatriots Simon Kurrage, Jonny 1200 and Mr Shiver, who bring their Flashlight to brighten up the proceedings in the loft.

Of course it isn’t all fun and games, there is a serious side to Sports Rave so watch out for synchronized dipping in the paddling pool, a spot of fishing, and beach volleyball in the Egg garden.

Fresh from the absolutely roadblocked Carnival party, Uptownboogiedown returns to their regular spot - 2nd Sunday of the month, on SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 14TH, at West London’s finest - The Notting Hill Arts Club.

Prepare your livers ladies and gentlemen, because it also happens to be UTBD resident MAXIME CESCAU’s birthday, yes that’s right, the boy with the best face for radio (careful with that joke, its an antique), officially becomes a man hitting the big 50, sorry 29 on the day, so no excuses!

In honour of this momentous occasion, we thought it high time we gave our loyal residents more of the spot light. After all, its not everyone that gets their tracks licensed to the next installment of Mark Farina’s MUSHROOM JAZZ series for San Fran House giant OM Records or Sander Kleinenberg’s latest Dj Mix for Pure Pacha…!!

Yes, in addition to holding the fort down at Boogiedown, JAFAR and MAXIME CESCAU have steadily been putting out a wealth of music over the last 15 years. Both together as POUSSEZ, and separately (or in conjunction with the talented ANDY TOUCHFINGERS) under their various aliases as JAFAR & TOUCH, TONRAUSCH, TOASTBURGLAR, JAFAR & BOBBY STROBE, RARE UNIT, POETIQUETTE, WAXJACKERS and EWOK, the pair have collectively released over 70 or so EPs and remixes on labels as reputable as Hustle Music, Dust Traxx, Friends of the Family, Universal Vibes, Blacksoul Music, Berwick Street, Sensual, Pigeon Traxx, Kwaito recordings and of course their own Artizan Music & 4bit imprints…

Jafar and Maxime have collaborated with industry stalwarts Demarkus Lewis, Rich Medina, Marcus Begg and Hannah Khemoh (Reel People). They have remixed Timo Garcia, Rithma, Young David and Terry Farley, whilst they are currently being remixed by production giant ATJAZZ!!

Nuff said. Its high time we gave the boys the lionshare of the night so they’ll also be treating us to an hours live set of their new POUSSEZ material

On warmup, is our good friend and upcoming Polish producer - ADSKI. The talented DJ does a very fine line in proper deep house and should set the scene very nicely on the 4-7pm slot!

So there you have it, get down early for a late Summer boogiedown. Extended Happy hour on the bar as every: 4-8pm! And don’t forget its Maxime’s birthday so it is your duty to come and pour vodka on his eyeballs…

For one glorious month of every year, the garden at Kings Cross’ reputable Egg Club is transformed into a beautiful Miami Style beach; Palm trees, Hot tubs and a well-stocked beach bar play host to 1500 House-hungry music lovers, eager to get down to the best international DJs the scene has to offer…

Saturday August 30th sees the penultimate beach event for this year, and as always, the musical programming across the clubs three floors is totally eggcellent…

Down in the basement, East London’s Monophunk crew take a break from regular jaunts at 54 to bring the minimal pressure. The residents are joined by Bpitchcontrol’s Lee Van Dowski and Agnes for exclusive London appearances. Meanwhile, on the middle deck, Muak’s Deep House don Zaki brings his ‘All Friends’ Muak record label, is Compost’s superb Wagon Cookin’. Finally, up in the loft, Artizan Music give you the chance to check out their much talked about, deep and bumpin’ label session, ‘Uptownboogiedown’ away from the monthly Sunday residency at the Notting Hill Arts Club. Joining label heads and production trio Jafar, Maxime Cescau and Andy Touchfingers (behind all those ace Poussez releases) is another UK production powerhouse – Reverberations main man Asad Rizvi.

It all kicks off from 9.30pm and runs till 6am. There’s complimentary food and drink until 11pm and a free shuttle bus from outside the American Carwash on York way, between 10pm-2am. Looks set to be another road blocker then, get your butts down early!!

Thus, when your monthly Sunday club night happens to be housed at the appropriately monikered Notting Hill Arts Club, right, slap, bang, in the thick of it all, there comes one month of the year when the ruckus is even louder…

Yes people, Boogiedown does Carnival!!!

Who better to join Uptownboogiedown’s stellar residents JAFAR & MAXIME CESCAU, than a DJ as much a part of Carnival as the Rice and pea, KEITH ‘KCC’ FRANKLIN. Alongside Sancho Panza and Good Times, KCC AND THE ROCKING CREW are one of the largest House Rigs at Carnival, building them a loyal and respected following year after year. Their main man Keith heads down to bring the KCC Afterparty vibes. Rounding off the DJ package, is the inimitable MR. CHEX from the excellent Funk Royale Night. The Bar will be stocking special Boogiedown Carnival Punch, there’s Rice&Pea, Curry Goat and cheaper £6 entry until 8pm (We strongly advise arrival before then, Carnival’s Soundsystems switch off at 7pm and last year saw one in one out at the Arts Club by 6.30pm!!).
